Welcome to the home of the Faith of the Fathers Mass and Men's Banquet

2011 Banquet Summary

The Faith of our Fathers Banquet is over for another year. The 2011 banquet was a great success. There were approximately 130 men and boys in attendance at the banquet, which followed an inspiring Family Mass at St.Anne Parish that was presided over by Archbishop Daniel Bohan and concelebrated by 13 priests. Please click here for a picture summary of the night. Look for information on next year's banquet coming up soon.

2011 Guest speaker
This year's guest speaker will be Lou Judd, from Cincinati, Ohio. Please refer to the sidebar on the left for a full bio of Lou Judd. We are incredibly pleased that Lou is able to be with us this year. Below is a summary of the talk that Lou will give at the banquet:

The Winning Game Plan

A strategic guide for developing a virtue- based game plan for life

Join guest speaker Lou Judd as he shares his vast experience from youth work and athletic programs of how to develop the necessary building blocks for authentic manhood. As mentors to their own children and other young people in their community, men play a key role in instilling strong Christian virtue through positive examples and role models. Lou will share powerful stories that will give us hope as well as food for thought and tools to work with as we aim to create positive change in the world around us.

As Pope John Paul II has said, "Sports are not merely the exercise of muscles, but the school of moral values and of training in courage, in perseverance, and in overcoming laziness and carelessness. There is no doubt that these values are of greatest interest for the formation of a personality which considers sports not an end in itself but as a means to total and harmonious physical, moral and social development."

The event
The Faith of our Fathers Banquet draws men and boys together to celebrate our vocations as priests, husbands, fathers and single men. Initiated in 2004, the event is intended to inspire men to live an authentic Catholic faith at home and in the workplace, and to create an atmosphere where boys witness the importance of faith in their fathers, priests and other men of faith.

It is also an occasion to recognize with thanksgiving the gift of our spiritual fathers… those called to the priestly and religious vocations. We do this each year by extending an invitation to our Archbishop and all the priests of the diocese of Regina, and recognizing their selfless service to the Church.

We begin our celebration with Holy Mass, to which all members of the family are invited. In the past we have had up to 10 priest con-celebrate the mass. Mass is followed by a banquet for men and boys… an opportunity for single men and husbands, fathers (including those without sons), sons, godfathers and godsons, grandfathers and grandsons, uncles and nephews, friends and priests to gather for fun, good food and inspiration. The program includes a delicious hot buffet dinner, an invited guest speaker and address by the diocesan Vocations Director, door prizes, raffle draws and socializing. Our intent is to offer a premier event where the boys feel pride in attending with the special men in their lives.

It's more than just a game...
